This movie is a classic Indian Hindi comedy film directed by Priyadarshan. The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Amisha Patel and Prakash Raj as three different sets of people trapped inside a room for 49 hours. The plot revolves around three different sets of people who find themselves stuck in the same room. The first set includes a criminal who is on the run, an actress who is to deliver a script on time and her hairdresser boyfriend, while the second set features two theater boys trying to save their school from shutting down due to lack of funds. The third set of people consist of a husband and wife who find themselves in the same room. The movie was declared a super hit at the box office and ran for more than 50 days in cinemas across India. It also became the second highest grossing comedy film of the year, after "Phir Hera Pheri". "Double Dhamaal" was remade into Telugu as "Super Hit Double" (2012) by Sravanthi Ravi Kishore starring Sunil and Nithya Menen. A Tamil remake titled "Sundhara" was released in 2017. It was also remade into Bengali as "Double Dhamaal" (2017) starring Dev, Koel Mallick and Sayantika Banerjee. The film was also remade into Kannada as "Dhamaal 2" (2018). The film begins with the two lead actors, Ravi (Mithun Chakraborty) and Nisha (Amisha Patel), who are returning to Mumbai after their honeymoon. Their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere and they decide to spend the night at a nearby hotel. There, they encounter Arun (Prakash Raj), a criminal who is on the run. He is also in the same hotel along with his henchmen, Sheela (Sarika) and Pulkit (Anupam Kher). The next morning, Ravi and Nisha find out that they are stuck in Arun's room. They get trapped inside the room by Arun's henchmen to stop Ravi from killing him. Ravi meets Shabana (Surbhi Chandna), an actress who is writing her script for a TV show called "Kya Pakki Hai Ya Kun Kaun" on time to reach her deadline of 10:00 AM. Arun's assistant Sheela is writing the script but due to her ignorance, it always gets rejected. Ravi helps Shabana to finish her script on time by giving her ideas for the storyline. Meanwhile, Arun, Nisha and Pulkit are also stuck inside the room because their car has broken down outside. The TV producer, Prakash comes to wait for Shabana along with his friend Bhatu Verma (Arshad Warsi).
